I feel like this fandom is dead.
Probably a result of declining quality in the franchise. If the last good game, Battlefield 4, has come out 11 years ago and fans keep being disheartened by any new release, the fandom diminishes.
Hardline.
@Písač battlefield 1*
Pisac was asleep when 1 released
@Ices2wastaking @Reevin No, I was pretty much awake. No other game outraged me more. It is one big deception. The developers have made zero effort to adapt Battlefield gameplay to WWI. They outright lied that WWI was always their dream setting because otherwise it is not possible they would make what they made. Their fears WWI will not sell were solved by not making a WWI game at all. They even laughed at players who criticised it.
You can say that the trailers and presentations already gave away the game's nature and I do not have a right to complain but there are some at least basic standards of authenticity for any historical setting. DICE did not bother to portray anything right and did not care about historical reality at any moment while presenting their work in a serious way. That mission intro and epilog text on a black screen looks like from an absolutely different product. I pity historians who consulted and then saw it. Necrovision is ironically more authentic despite being a game with the supernatural (a combination of WWI and the supernatural is somehow favoured by developers).
Reviews have shown me how superficial or shill game journalists are. Excellent graphics and sound were everything they needed to give it 10/10s or 9/10s. They are the only good qualities about the game. Design is bad and it may be a single one shooter in which a bullet can hilariously speed up after the initial shot. The argument that it is fun is not enough for me, many multiplayer shooters are better and also fun. Whom is this one for if it does not fill its proclaimed purpose? And it is not just a game, it could shape how children imagine WWI. Battlefield V did not make so much damage because there were older prominent WWII games. Remind yourself that huge pile of WWII titles from the beginning of century, they all had authenticity in mind naturally, and then look where we got. It is disgusting. The disaster is the sadder when you realise Battlefield 1 was released in 2016, in times of 100th anniversaries. I think I do not overexaggerate when I say it is a shame of gaming and a shame of mankind. Since then it would be more beneficial to disband DICE as new small studios and reinforcements would make something more valuable than this garbage.
By the way, an FPS with a historical WWI single-player campaign still does not exist.
@Písač Not reading all of that so cool for you or sorry for your lost
Also battlefield 1 theme is lit
@Ices2wastaking I wasn't writing it in rage. I just want anyone who defends Battlefield 1 to know how despicable this game and its developers are. I expect a studio which claims it develops a historical game to study and portray the selected period. It's self-evident part of their job. DICE utterly failed in the responsibility to make "the first AAA WWI game".
The soundtrack is probably alright. That aspect rarely makes a problem (if it isn't rap in the Gladiator trailer).
What do you think?
