The Metal Storm 3GL is a three-round semi-automatic 40mm grenade launcher. Like the M320, it can be used as a standalone weapon, or mounted on some Assault Rifles.

Its higher capacity gives it an advantage over single-shot launchers, and is much smaller and lighter than traditional multiple grenade launchers such as the M32 MGL. It uses the superposed load system where multiple projectiles are loaded nose to tail in a single gun barrel with propellant packed in between.

"Fires 3 smaller 40mm grenades for attacking several targets with less damage than the HE grenade."

— Battlelog description

The M320 3GL is a gadget introduced in the Battlefield 4: Naval Strike expansion. It is unlocked upon completion of the Multi Tool assignment.

Despite the additional ammunition, all three rounds are needed to kill an enemy from full health (excepting use of the FLAK specialization). Direct hits inflict less damage, the reduction in blast effects being worse than the gain in impact damage.

It cannot destroy walls without using up most of its base ammo, taking out only the thinnest layers of cover with one shot, making it much less useful for this purpose than the M320.

M203 launchers with 3GL rounds are also equipped on the RAWR.

  • The 3GL uses the same model as the M320, including the same reload animation (consisting of a single grenade) and firing sound.
