AK-12

The AK-12 in real life.

The Kalashnikov AK-12 (formerly АК-200) is the newest derivative of the Soviet/Russian AK-47 series of assault rifles and is proposed for possible general issue to the Russian Army, and is currently undergoing testing.

The firing modes for the AK-12 are semi-automatic, 3-round burst (at 1000 RPM), and automatic (at 600 RPM). The AK-12 has interchangeable barrels and is able to fire a variety of cartridges, including but not limited to the 7.62×39mm, 5.45×39mm, 5.56×45mm NATO, 7.62×51mm NATO, 6.5×39mm Grendel, and even 12 gauge shotgun shells. The in-game assault rifle variant, however, solely fires the 5.45×39mm Russian cartridge.

Battlefield 4

The AK-12 was first seen during the E3 multiplayer gameplay and then in the Battlefield 4: "Paracel Storm" Multiplayer Trailer for Gamescom 2013. It is the default weapon for the Assault during the Beta.

Trivia

  • The AK-12 is one of the two Assault Rifles in the Battlefield 4 Beta, the other being the SCAR-H.
  • The AK-12 is the first unlocked Assault Rifle in the Battlefield 4 Beta.
  • In Battlefield 4, the reload animation for the AK-12 is false, as the player does not need to reach for the magazine release it, because the real life AK-12 has a magazine release button on the right side.
