AKM

The AKM assault rifle in reality.

The AKM is a modernized variant of the AK-47 with a wide range of improvements over nearly every part of the AK-47. It was developed in the 1950s by Mikhail Kalashnikov, and adopted as the Soviet service rifle in 1959. It has since become the most prolific of the AK series of rifles, finding its way all around the world and continuing to be used. It is often mistaken or mislabeled as an AK-47.

Battlefield Vietnam

The AKMS, a folding-stock variant of the AKM, makes an appearance in Battlefield Vietnam. It is issued uniquely to the Viet Cong Assault kit. The weapon has decent power and accuracy, however firing fully automatically is not recommended. Firing in 2 round bursts can take out any target from a medium distance. The weapon also has a quick reload time which can prove useful during desperate times. It is a direct equivalent in stats to the AK-47.

Battlefield Hardline

BF1 Puzzle Piece This section is a stub. It is short and in need of fortification. Why not improve this section?

"A modernized version of the famous AK-47, the AKM is the most ubiquitous variant of the entire AK series of firearms. A hard-hitting but heavy recoil weapon, the AKM takes practice to master."

— In-game description

The AKM is a weapon featured in Battlefield Hardline.

Singleplayer

The AKM is used by various enemies in the campaign. It is first seen in Gator Bait, and can be selected for use in any episode after it is acquired.

Multiplayer

The AKM is a purchasable weapon for the Criminal Operator kit in multiplayer. The weapon does more damage than any of the other assault rifles or carbines, but has a somewhat slow rate of fire at 600 RPM and heavy recoil, making the Muzzle Brake a useful attachment on the weapon.
