The Alternate Weapon Package is a Specialization in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for various vehicles:

  • The AH-64 Apache and Mi-28 Havoc Attack Helicopters gains an additional guided missile, which can track targets designated by a Tracer Dart, either placed by dartgun or from the gunner.
    • The gunner acquires a dart gun, along with their main weapon. Allowing the Pilot who also is using the same package to destroy targets efficientally or allow either RPG-7s or Carl Gustavs to track targets.

This is an active specialization, meaning it can only be used by the driver, or the gunner of an Attack Helicopter. It does not function on vehicles without a primary weapon such as: armored cars, naval vessels, or Quad Bike.

In the Bad Company 2 Vietnam, this is replaced by the V-Flame (See below)

Looking for the Battlefield 1 variant, the Flamethrower Package, for the A7V?

The specialization is referred to as the V-Flame in the Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam expansion. It only provides a benefit for MBTs; The M48 Patton and the T-54. This provides a co-axial anti-infantry flamethrower attachment on to the tank's main cannon which excel in direct infantry engagements or denying an enemy's advancement with the lingering flames.

The tank-mounted flamethrower reaches over five meters further compared to that of the handheld M2-2 Flamethrower, 20 meters total. The flames project at the same rate (50 m/s) but the lingering time of the tank's is longer by one tenth of a second.
