Customization in Battlefield 2042 allows players to modify Specialist and vehicle loadouts. Four loadouts are available to modify and switch between. Each loadout contains a slot for a primary and secondary weapon, a gadget, and a throwable. Each weapon features four attachment slots: sight, ammunition, underbarrel, and barrel. Each attachment slot can hold three attachments which can be switched between during gameplay by using the Plus System. Players may also customize the weapons of vehicles for each seat within a vehicle.
Outside of gameplay, players may customize their Player Card Images, Tags, and Badges for display during gameplay. The appearance of Specialists, weapons, and vehicles may be changed with cosmetics. Specialists cosmetics are divided between Uniforms, Headgear and Takedowns. Weapons feature skins and Charms while vehicles feature camos and Decals. Cosmetics are unlocked by leveling up, completing Mastery Tiers, Weekly Missions, and special events.
Cosmetics are available in four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
