Catching Flak is the eighth mission in the singleplayer campaign of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.
We got our base back, which nicely sets us up for an air reconnaissance and electronic surveillance mission with you in the primary aircraft. You have four objectives to cover as marked on the aerials and on your TAC map. We have no intel on Triple-A air threats but the mission is vital for follow-on operations. Coordinate with the aircrew and lift off.
The player is playing from the viewpoint of NATO in this mission. The player is tasked with flying a specially equipped UH-60 Black Hawk to four specific areas in order to recon them and gain intelligence. In order to recon the area, the player must fly the Black Hawk at a low altitude above the area. On the way, PLA soldiers will try to shoot down the Black Hawk. If it is destroyed, the mission fails. When all four areas have been checked for intelligence, the player must land the Black Hawk back at the heliport. Some PLA soldiers will attack the heliport, so they must be cleared in order to make the LZ safe. Once the Black Hawk lands, the mission is complete.
To achieve a full 10-star rating, the player will need to complete the following milestones by the end of the mission:
- Score: 90,000 points or more
- Time: Completion in under twelve minutes
- Style/Weapon Use (amount of hot-swapping): Expert (about 10 hot-swaps)
- Accuracy: Greater than 50% shots hit
- Losses: Less than 20 soldiers on the player's team died
