Battlefield 2042[]
— In-game description
The EBLC-Ram is an armored reconnaissance vehicle featured in Battlefield 2042, introduced in Master of Arms season. As it is a Personal vehicle in Heavy Armor slot, EBLC-Ram could be used by No-Pats from both United States and Russian faction.
The EBLC has an 4-person crew consisting 1 driver and 3 gunners. The driver operates the main gun that has 3 options, as well as the coaxial machine gun. For general defensive equipments, the EBLC got its Smoke Discharger, Thermal Smoke Package and Cyberwarfare Protection System in the same slot, while Repair System and Active Protection System is together. For the third "Default Equipment", EBLC can put a Team Insertion Beacon in front of the vehicle, allowing friendly soldiers to deploy here within a limited time.
The default 40mm Cannon for EBLC-Ram is basically the same as on EBAA Wildcat, it has a maximum of 12 spare rounds, predictable accuracy and less blast damage. When facing infantry, it requires 2 to 3 rounds to perform a kill. When facing vehicles, it can only effectively counter light targets such as LATV4 Recon, while only harass heavier targets such as MAV (7 damage per hit to M5C Bolte, 4 to Wildcat, CAV-Brawler, EBLC and MBTs). 40mm Cannon is still a threat to helicopters (about 28 damage per hit to Stealthcrafts, 23 to Attack Helicopters), but its range cannot be compared to professional choices.
The 105mm Howitzer Cannon has a maximum of 8 spare rounds, both lower rate of fire and reload time compared to 40mm Cannon. Although shell velocity and drop issues make it hard, but Howitzer Cannon can achieve one-body-hit kill when facing infantry, and high blast radius would make it very effective against enemy personnel. In contrast, when facing vehicles, the damage caused by the Howitzer Cannon is not significantly different from the default 40mm cannon (4-6 damage per hit to MAV, 6-8 to EMKV90-TOR), resulting in poorer anti-armor capability. The Howitzer Cannon is difficult to hit even the closest helicopter (about 54 damage per hit to Stealthcrafts).
The Missile Launcher fires in bursts (not salvo) of 3 and has a maximum of 6 spare rounds. The reload will only begin after all 6 rounds have been launched and will take about 8 seconds. When directly hit, the missile can achieve one-hit-kill, but it is relatively difficult in actual combat. Its blast radius is similar to the 40mm Cannon, so it basically requires a burst to kill the targeted infantry. Since it fires high velocity missiles, hitting enemy vehicles is much easier compared to other two options, but the damage is not significantly increased (4-7 damage per hit to MAV, 7 to MBTs and EMKV, 8 to CAV and EBAA, 53 to YUV-2 Pondhawk). Overall, Missile Launcher should haa killed the least infantry before reloading among the three options, but anti-vehicle efficiency will be significantly improved thanks to high firing rate.
The gunner operates a remote weapon system that can equiped with a heavy machine gun, a 7.62mm minigun, and a 40mm grenade launcher, while the third gunner operates a weapon pod with 3 options. However, the second gunner is unique with 1 AT and 1 AA missile. Despite its strong versatility, the missiles the second gunner can use have a long reload time, while its range and time to lock on seem to be slightly worse compared to regular ones (the AA missile's range is 250 meters, while helicopters' AT missiles got 300 meters). This position is important as it can be say bears about 80% of Ram's anti-vehicle capability.
Although EBLC-Ram is defined as an "armored reconnaissance vehicle" in the description, its reconnaissance capability are actually limited due to the lack of a dedicated spotter, and should be considered not higher than, for example CAV-Brawler. Meanwhile, the tasks of EBLC in combat, namely hit-and-run with flank attacks, are largely overlapped with M5C Bolte (efficiency is certainly higher).
In this case, EBLC-Ram now belong to the Heavy Armor, which means that it will occupy a slot for MBTs. Meanwhile, its overall survivability facing projectiles may be even slightly lower than EBAA Wildcat. When collide with certain obstacles in a high-speed, EBLC-Ram will lose some HP just like Light Transports.
As with many ground vehicles, the EBLC-Ram will hold different cannon appearances and turret rotation speed after selecting different types of main gun.
