The GL1 is an under-barrel grenade launcher designed by Belgian arms manufacturers Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal (FN Herstal) in 2001. It is designed to fit specifically the FN F2000.
Battlefield 2
The GL1 in Battlefield 2 is found attached to the F2000 Assault Rifle. Like the M203 and the other Under-barrel mounted Grenade Launchers it fires 40mm Grenades that are very effective against Light and Medium Transport land Vehicles.

The GL1 equipped in Battlefield: Bad Company
The GL1 in Battlefield: Bad Company is again attached to the F2000. Since all grenade launchers boast horrible damage against infantry and vehicles (excluding the Golf Cart), the main use of the GL1 is to destroy parts of the environment, since the game runs on the Frostbite Engine. It can potentially kill an enemy, but it will require damage inflicted previously or a headshot for it to be a one shot kill. Against light vehicles, the GL1 can also be potentially useful, but only if the said vehicle has already been damaged.
