The Fallschirmjäger were the paratrooper branch of the German Luftwaffe before and during World War II. They were the first paratroopers to be committed in large-scale airborne operations and played a key part in the 1940 invasions of France, Belgium and Norway in addition to the 1941 invasion of Crete. After these early war operations, the Fallschirmjäger were rarely used as parachutists and were instead used as elite light infantry.

Battlefield 1942

The Fallschirmjäger do not make a named appearance in Battlefield 1942. However in the Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII expansion pack the German Elite Forces appears based on the formation, with its Assault kit using the Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 as its primary weapon.

Battlefield V

The Fallschirmjäger are referenced more frequently in Battlefield V.

Singleplayer

The Fallschirmjäger are the main enemy force encountered in the singleplayer war story Tirailleur. Although armed similarly to the Wehrmacht soldiers found in Under No Flag and Nordlys, they have a unique visual appearance. Early on in the chapter, they can be found wearing a variation of the green splinter camouflage used on the Jagdflieger torso whereas later on they switch to a distinctive orange pattern based on the Luftlandtruppen set. They also make use of unique headgear such as the Standard Fallschirmjäger and Stag's Blood helmet. The elite versions of their soldier classes look the same as the regular German faction.

Combined Arms

Fallschirmjäger are the primary enemy force on the Combined Arms mission High Intelligence.

Multiplayer

Although the German faction in multiplayer is named generically as the Axis Powers, the Fallschirmjäger are specifically named by announcers in Grand Operations as the attacking team on Airborne on day 1 of the Raid on Rotterdam and Battle for France. They are also mentioned in the description of several Battlefield V Assignments and Tides of War weekly challenges, with Week 10 of Chapter Three: Trial By Fire making frequent mention.

Several weapons also reference the unit in either their description like the FG-42 or directly in the name like the Fallschirmjäger Switchblade. Several cosmetic items found in The Company do the same - Battlefield V deluxe and preorder bonuses included paratrooper themed outfits.

German paratroopers can be seen dropping from Ju-52 transport aircraft in the background of the map Mercury.
