A fast attack vehicle (FAV) is a ground vehicle possessing both high maximum speed (unlike most other ground vehicles) and considerable weaponry (unlike scout cars). Their high speed comes at a significant cost, possessing either light or negligible armor. Rather than engaging enemies head-on, FAVs excel at quickly transporting infantry to distant locations, and performing attacks of opportunity—especially roadkills—against isolated or flanked targets.
In certain Battlefield games, an FAV may be repaired while in motion by one of the passengers.
Due to their high speed, FAVs are susceptible to rollover on uneven terrain, effectively neutralizing the vehicle. Vehicle design for FAVs often include a low center of gravity to reduce rollover risk, necessitating the need for bulky armor to be removed from the upper chassis.
