Two early prototypes of the Thompson submachine gun appear in Battlefield 1: the Annihilator and M1919 SMG.

Annihilator[]

This item has a Codex entry: M1919 SMG
"This prototype of the famous American SMG was just days short of making it to the front in WWI, but the armistice ended the war before the shipment left the dock."

— In-game description

The Annihilator was previously seen in the Community Test Environment. The Trench variant was added to the base game in the Weapons Crate Update on May 7, 2018 and the Storm variant was added to the base game in the Shock Operations Update on June 27, 2018.

There are two variants of the Annihilator: Trench and Storm

The Annihilator has the second fastest fire rate at 830 RPM. Combined with its highest in class damage per shot and excellent handling characteristics makes the Annihilator among the best weapons at close range.

However, the low magazine capacity and long reload makes the Annihilator comparatively weak in sustained engagements compared to other weapons in its class, such as the SMG 08/18. Because of this, hit-and-run tactics are generally more favorable with the Annihilator.

Trench[]

"This SMG pattern offers improved accuracy when hip firing, making it well suited for clearing out trenches."

— In-game Description

The Annihilator Trench variant is the default variant and has 33% better hip-fire accuracy compared to the other versions. The hip-fire accuracy is comparable to the trench variants of the MP 18 and Automatico M1918.

Storm[]

"Equipped with a vertical fore grip, this SMG pattern offers reduced recoil while firing."

— In-game Description

The Annihilator Storm variant is the alternative variant of the Annihilator and reduces the recoil values of the weapon by 20%. This makes the storm variant marginally more effective beyond close range.
