The National Gendarmerie Intervention Group, commonly abbreviated GIGN (French: Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale), is a special operations unit of the French Armed Forces. It is part of the National Gendarmerie and is trained to perform counter-terrorist and hostage rescue missions in France or anywhere else in the world.
Battlefield 3[]
The GIGN appear in the singleplayer and co-op modes of Battlefield 3 in levels taking place in Paris, alongside the National Police.
Campaign[]
The GIGN appear in the mission Comrades trying to stop the PLR cell operatives and the GRU operatives Dimitri Mayakovsky, Vladimir, and Kiril, who were attempting to retrieve a stolen nuclear device from the PLR.
Co-op[]
The GIGN also appears in Battlefield 3's Co-op mode. The Alpha Team GIGN unit appears in the co-op mission, Drop 'Em Like Liquid. They also appear in the co-op mission The Eleventh Hour, assaulting PLR forces entrenched inside the Bourse de Commerce building.
