The Growler ITV in real life.
The M1161 Growler ITV (English: internally transported vehicle) is a light armored transport used by the United States Marine Corps and produced by General Dynamics and American Growler. The vehicle's development began in 1999 when the Marines wanted a vehicle that could be transported by the then still in development V-22 Osprey.
The original concept of the Growler was based off the M151 MUTT and used much of the same internal components, which heavily displeased the USMC due to the dated parts. However, the final design included all new internal components, allowing a drastic improvement over the older M151. The Growler comes in two variants: the M1161 that is used as a light utility transport, and one that is used to tow the M327, the US designation for the French-manufactured RT F1 towed 120mm mortar. The vehicle itself is lightly armored and has a mount for an M2 Browning heavy machine gun or an M240 medium machine gun.
