Hatchet IRL

A modern Hatchet

A hatchet is a small tool with a heavy chopping blade on one side and a hammer head on the back side. While it can be used for brute tasks such as splitting wood, its small size also makes it suitable for delicate tasks such as carving and shaving.

Battlefield 1[]

"Primarily designed as a tool to destroy or modify various equipment on the battlefield, the hatchet also made for a vicious cleaving weapon up close."

— In-game description

The Hatchet is a melee weapon featured in Battlefield 1. It was first seen at the EA Play event on June 12, 2016.

It inflicts 80 damage against infantry, although attacks from behind or against prone targets will result in a takedown.

Along with the other hand tools, it has a slow attack speed and narrow kill zone for takedowns.

The hatchet is capable of destroying barbed wire, and can chop holes in thin wooden objects like doors and window shutters.

Battlefield V[]

BF1 Puzzle Piece This section is a stub. It is short and in need of fortification. Why not improve this section?
"A hatchet is not just for felling small trees or chopping fire wood. In the hands of a skilled soldier it becomes a terrible weapon in close combat, rightly feared by the enemy."

— In-game Description

The hatchet returns in Battlefield V as a Hand tool. It is unlocked by obtaining rank 4 with any class and remains unchanged from its counterpart in Battlefield 1.

Battlefield 2042[]

The Fatal Friend hatchet is classified as a knife in Battlefield 2042. It is available as a launch reward for EA Play members. It is statistically identical in its function to other knives and had a unique Takedown animation.
