Hypothermia in humans is when a core body tempature drops below 35.0 °C or 95.0 °F. This is the result of body heat dissipating faster than it can absorb. Common symptoms include shivering. Severe hypothermia can ultimately lead to the stopping of the heart and death. Hypothermia has played a key role in wars due to battles that have been fought in cold environments.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2[]
Hypothermia is a gameplay mechanic featured in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in the singleplayer mission Snowblind. Taking place in the Andes Mountains, a blizzard begins following B-Company's engagement with the RGF. Preston Marlowe proceeds down the mountain while trying to regroup with his squadmates. Due to the extreme cold, Preston is forced to periodically seek shelter in nearby homes or he will succumb to hypothermia.
