Invasion of the Philippines is a map featured in Battlefield 1942. It features the United States Marine Corps in combat against the Japanese Navy during the Japanese invasion of the Philippine Islands.

Overview

Invasion of the Philippines is a Conquest Assault map taking place within a group of island in the Philippines. The game starts out with the Japanese Navy having no bases except for the Akizuki-class destroyer and losing tickets until they capture one base. The USMC will begin losing tickets if all but one base is captured.

The IJN's destroyer can be used to provide support as the team attempts to capture bases on the islands, while the USMC can use the Elco 80 PT Boats and planes to defend from landing craft and the destroyer.

The Japanese have at their disposal a Hatsuzuki-class destroyer, which spawns multiple landing craft. While the USMC doesn't have any counterpart on this map, caution must be exercised when approaching the shoreline, as the destroyer can easily be run aground in shallow water. The  destroyer turrets can be used effectively as support since the projectiles have a large blast radius. It's suggested to keep an eye out for US PT boats as their torpedoes can be quite deadly.

Also, if the Hatsuzuki is sunk and all the Japanese players are killed, this results in an automatic win for the USMC team.
