Killswitch is a limited-time gamemode featured in Battlefield 2042, introduced in Dark Protocol event of Dark Creations season. The mode can be describe as King of the Hill-style with two teams of 12 players trying to capture the node that available one at a time in a best of 9 format, with the team that manage to capture 5 objectives will win the match. Each maps have a fixed amount of objective rotating in cycle for player to capture. Unlike Conquest, the capture progress will not multiplier by amount of player in the area and the capture progression will not be reset when one team push the enemy team out of the area.
Unique to this mode is an AI synthetic soldiers called "Geist" that spawn from Forge machine to the team that claim the control panel. Creating horde of enemies and help distract the occupier of the AI node. Geists can take more damage from player but will only be able to use melee weapon, Incendiary Grenade and Recoilless M5. Forge machine will spawn 12 Geists per wave for every 17.5 seconds with a maximum of 30 Geists available simultaneously at a time.[1] Geists will deactivate themselves after the node has been captured.
The vehicles in this mode is limited to only 3 light transport vehicles per team including LATV4 Recon, LCAA Hovercraft and YUV-2 Pondhawk.
Killswitch is available on Hourglass, Manifest, Redacted and Spearhead.[2]
