The Knife is a class of melee weapons featured in Battlefield 2042 for all kits. As with past installments, all knives are functionally identical to one another and enable players to perform third-person Takedowns against enemy players. Each knife features a unique Takedown animation. If a player cannot perform a Takedown, they will perform a slash with the blade which will cause 50 points of damage.
While some knives are available in all modes, several are exclusive to Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3 collections within the Battlefield Portal.

- The victim of the takedown is invincible to other forms of damage, while the attacker always remains vulnerable to external attacks. Takedown will not interrupt the victim's actions such as bomb defuse or rescue.
- The ACB-90 is a unique knife that appears in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4.
- The Damavand Poke knife is a reference to the Battlefield 3 map, Damavand Peak.
- Fatal Friend is a Hatchet that has appeared in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V.
