KobraRDSIRl

The KOBRA in real life.

Not to be confused with the Cobra 4WD.

The Kobra is a Russian Red Dot Sight used by military and police organizations on AK style mounts, with some variants adapted to fit standard accessory rails. It has a variety of reticles.

Battlefield 3

"Russian Red Dot Sight used by military and police organizations on AK style mounts, adapted to fit standard accessory rails; features a single Red Dot reticle."

— Battlelog description

The Kobra sight is an optic in Battlefield 3. It is identical in function to its American counterpart, the Reflex (RDS), but it has 3 intersecting red lines, pointing downwards, to the left, and to the right.

It is unlocked as the first optical attachment for many weapons originating from Russia and many other weapons, sniper rifles where 12x Ballistic is always the first to be unlocked. It is also unlocked for American and European weapons, such as M16A3, SCAR-H and M98B, relatively late, at approximately 200 kills.

The Kobra is ideal for close quarters combat due to its quick aiming speed and clear sight picture. Many players prefer it over the Reflex due to its frame being much less bulky and hence being less intrusive on the player's peripheral vision, and for its unique reticle not blocking out the center of the player's target, hence making it clear to see exactly where it's aimed. Choosing one over the other is simply a matter of personal preference.

"Russian reflex sight with a T cross reticle that keeps the point of aim clearer than other red dot sights."

— Battlelog discription

The Kobra (RDS) returns in Battlefield 4. It functions the same as in the previous game, and is the red dot sight unlocked for all Russian weapons, while on Chinese weapons it has ben replaced by the Coyote.

Like all other Reflex and Holographic sights, it is compatible with the Magnifier (2x).

Trivia

  • In the Alpha version of Battlefield 3, the Kobra's reticle was a red dot, much like its American counterpart.
  • Besides the reticle, the Kobra is identical to the red dot sight from Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
  • The Kobra reticle's size can vary for different weapons.
