Overview BF2 BF3 BF4 Hardline

The Benelli M4 "Super 90" is an Italian semi-automatic combat shotgun developed in 1998 in response to a request by the United States military for a new combat shotgun. The M4 uses a dual gas piston system as opposed to the recoil system used in earlier Benelli models, allowing it to more reliably cycle different types of shotgun loads. After entering and passing military trials, the M4 was adopted by the United States Army and Marine Corps as the M1014 in 1999. The M4 has subsequently also seen adoption and use with other military and law enforcement forces worldwide.

The M4 has appeared in four games in the Battlefield series. The M1014 with collapsable buttstock appears in Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 3, while an M4 with a full stock appears in Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline.
