A machete from Latin America.

A Machete is a large cutting tool. It is generally used to cut through dense foliage or other environments. As it is a bladed weapon, it can be used as a Combat Knife, or as a makeshift surgical implement for amputation of limbs.

Battlefield Vietnam

The Machete is a weapon featured in Battlefield Vietnam and is issued as the melee weapon for all NVA kits. It is a redesigned Axis combat knife, featuring identical stats and files to the Axis knife, but having a different skin and animations.

It requires between one and four strikes to kill, depending where each attack hits. Its American and South Vietnamese equivalent is the Combat Knife, and the Viet Cong equivalent is the Plantation Knife.

"The machete is a large cleaver-like knife, commonly used to cut through rain forest undergrowth and for agriculture purposes. It's also a terrifying weapon for use in close quarters."

— In-game description

The Machete is a melee weapon featured in Battlefield Hardline.

It is exclusive to the Criminals, and can be used by all kits. Compared to the various blunt weapons and knives available, it is much slower to swing, but will always inflict a one-hit kill. As with other two-handed melee weapons, the machete does not perform a takedown animation upon successfully landing a hit.

A golden variant of the machete may be obtained by completing the "Progression Syndicate" Assignment. While functioning identically to the normal machete, kills obtained with the gold machete are counted separately from the normal machete. Also, unlike the normal machete, the gold machete may be used by both factions.
