800px-Machette kos

A machete from Latin America.

A Machete is a large cutting tool. It is generally used to cut through dense foliage or other environments. As it is a bladed weapon, it can be used as a Combat Knife, or as a makeshift surgical implement for amputation of limbs.

Battlefield Vietnam

In Battlefield Vietnam, the Machete is issued as the melee weapon for all NVA kits. It is a redesigned Axis combat knife, featuring identical stats and files to the Axis knife, but having a different skin and animations. It requires between one and four strikes to kill, depending where each attack hits.

Its American and South Vietnamese equivalent is the Combat Knife, and the Viet Cong equivalent is the Plantation Knife.

Battlefield 3

The Spetsnaz Machete is a melee weapon used by Dimitri Mayakovsky in the missions Comrades and Kaffarov. It is always part of the player's kit as Dima and can be used to attack enemies with slashes and takedowns, similar to the standard M9 Combat Knife. Dima also uses it to disable the security system in the parking garage in the mission Comrades. It is also featured in the cover art of Battlefield 3: Aftermath, however does not appear in the expansion pack.

Battlefield 4

In Battlefield 4, the Machete appears as a usable melee weapon in multiplayer. It was first seen for a short moment in the Battlefield 4: Levolution Trailer.
