A Russian scout helicopter that was surveying the damage of the quake had spotted a massive group of American survivors near a highway that intended on regrouping with the rest of the army north of the city. Using what the Russians could supply they sent the heaviest personnel and equipment they could offer in the wasteland to stop the regrouping Americans from reaching their destination.
