Mark 82 IRL

The Mark 82 in real life.

The Mark 82 is a type of general purpose, low-drag, unguided bomb, and part of the Mark 80 series of bombs. It is a 500lb bomb developed in the 1950s and 1960s. It is deployed both as a means of carpet-bombing, as well as being the warhead for the GBU-12 laser-guided bomb. The Mk82 is also used in GBU-38s which are primarily GPS and INS guided as well as the GBU-54 which is laser guided.

Battlefield 2Edit

In Battlefield 2, the Mk82 dumbbomb is the larger counterpart to the Mk81, and is employed by the F-18. Despite being nominally larger, with a damage of 350, splash radius of 17 meters, and force of 20, the bomb itself is statistically identical to its smaller cousin, as well as being identical to the MEC 250 and MEC 500 bombs used by the opposing teams.
