NSV IRL

The NSV in real life.

The NSV (Russian НСВ Никитина-Соколова-Волкова) is a Soviet-made 12.7mm heavy machine gun named after the designers, G. I. Nikitin (Г. И. Никитин), Y. S. Sokolov (Ю. М. Соколов) and V. I. Volkov (В. И. Волков). It was designed in 1971 to replace the DShK. The weapon was stopped from being produced in Russia in 1998 following the break up of the USSR, with the KORD developed to replace the NSV the same year. The NSV weighs 25 kg, has a rate of fire of 13 rounds per second, and an effective range of 1,500 meters. A fully loaded ammunition belt with 50 rounds weighs 11 kg.

Battlefield 2[]

The NSV is a machinegun which was cut from, or never implemented in, Battlefield 2. A single reference can be found to the weapon in the localization files, KILLMESSAGE_WEAPON_nsv NSV, but there are no other references to the weapon. It seems that the KORD replaced its role and it was therefore cut.
