Years of melting of Antarctic ice has created the opportunity for the Russian government to continue its extensive drilling and fracking operations. A thirsty Russia plans for ten million barrels a day from this site, resulting in one of the world's last remaining pristine landscapes being torn apart. Now that the superpowers are coming to blows elsewhere in the world, the US is taking the opportunity to strike a Russian strategic asset.
