PSO-1 Reticle

The Soviet PSO-1 (Pritsel Snaipersky Optichesky, "Optical Sniper Sight") telescopic sight was, at the time of its introduction (around 1964), the most technically advanced telescopic sight ever designed for a mass-production designated marksman or sniper rifle.

The PSO-1 telescopic sight is manufactured in Russia by the Novosibirsk instrument-making factory (NPZ Optics State Plant) and is issued with the Russian military SVD sniper rifle.

Battlefield Vietnam

The PSO-1 is issued to the NVA Scout kit with the SVD sniper rifle in Battlefield Vietnam.

The PSO-1 comes standard on both the SVU and VSS sniper rifles in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, with a 6x magnification. Its unique reticle with stacked chevrons is useful for gauging bullet drop.

The PSO-1 is seen on the SVD sniper rifle in Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam. Like it's counterpart on the base game's SVU and VSS, it has a 6x magnification and has a unique reticle with stacked chevrons for gauging bullet drop at range.

It has considerably more zoom than the M21's scope, and the same zoom as the M40, but unlike the others, it does not allow the player to use peripheral vison while sighted in.

Battlefield Play4Free

The PSO-1 SVD and PSO-1 Simonov are available weapon attachments that both provides 1.95x zoom magnification. This scope offers lower magnification than the standard sniper scope.

Battlefield 3

"Standard Issue Russian medium speed, medium range scope with a 4x magnification originally developed for the SVD; adapted to fit on standard rails with a Ballistic reticle."

— Battlelog description

The PSO-1 is a weapon attachment featured in Battlefield 3 that provides 4× (346%) magnification. Unlike the sniper's default PKS-07 scope, the player will not suffer from scope glint. It cannot be mounted to PDWs, besides the AS VAL, due to complications with the amount of space available on most PDW attachment rails, but it can be mounted to all other types of primary weapons in game.

The PSO-1 features a stadiametric rangefinder in the lower-left side of the reticle, but it is not accurate in-game.

Battlefield 4

The PSO-1 returns in Battlefield 4 as it was seen during the E3 2013 livestream of the game's multiplayer.

The PSO-1 has had one notable change since Battlefield 3: the topmost chevron on the reticule is now illuminated red, and the stadiametric rangefinder has been adjusted and is actually somehwhat useful now. Otherwise, it is the same.

It is the first 4x optic unlocked on most eastern european weapons, and others must acquire it from battlepacks.
