Proximity Defense is a vehicular specialization exclusive to the mobile artillery system found in the Armored Kill expansion. It is the last specialization unlocked for the mobile artillery at 9,000 points.
Incendiary smoke is deployed in the same way as IR smoke but holds no benefits of the IR smoke; instead the cloud of smoke will instantly kill enemy infantry within a certain proximity to the vehicle.
The main visual difference is that the IR Smoke goes off softly while the proximity defense goes off more violently, even stirring up the surface.
Trivia
- The Proximity Defense was once bugged; occasionally, the smoke would kill the driver and may leave enemies nearby unscathed. This has been fixed in a bugfix release, however.
