A rifleman is a soldier armed with a rifle and the most common infantry in present-day armies.
Until the late 18th century, smoothbore muskets were the standard weapon of infantry, with the muzzle-loaded rifle being a specialist weapon for marksmen. Technological advances—such as breech-loading, bullet cartridges, automatic fire, and modular attachments—eventually made the rifle the standard weapon, while the musket became obsolete.
Battlefield 1943[]
— Official Website Description
The Rifleman is a class in Battlefield 1943. It is mainly used for anti-infantry purposes, engaging infantry targets at mid to long range. The semi-automatic rifles used by this class are extremely accurate and powerful, taking three shots to kill an enemy at any range, or a single headshot. Their rate of fire is moderate and may be lacking at close range. The Bayonet allows for a melee attack that kills instantly with good reach, but it can be slow to attack multiple times. The Rifleman is also equipped with rifle grenades, which can destroy light vehicles, hit enemies behind cover, or damage structures. In addition, he has two hand grenades. Due to the recharging property of ammunition in Battlefield 1943, it is advised to use the kit's explosives often for maximum effectiveness.

Battlefield 1[]
The Rifleman kit appears in the singleplayer campaign for Battlefield 1. Enemy riflemen are typically equipped with the bolt action and self-loading rifles used by the Medic and Scout kits in Multiplayer but without the healing or scouting capability from either kit. They are the most common types of enemies and allies.
Enemy riflemen may be equipped with long-range sights/scopes, permitting them a greater detection range against the player.
