Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 introduced scope glint, a gameplay mechanic added to high power scope attachments. A high power scope is defined as a scope with a zoom greater than 4x. This causes a sniper's scope to be visible from a considerable distance as a bright glare. The glare is brightest when seen from the direct line of fire and is less noticeable at off angles. This effect can be mitigated by either aiming away from the enemy (and using peripheral vision), switching to another weapon, or by switching to a low magnification optic or Iron Sights in customization.

Battlefield 4

In Battlefield 4, scope glint will only be visible to someone within a 10 degree viewing angle of the sniper, and only when the user is actively aiming down sight.

Battlefield Hardline

In Battlefield Hardline, the scope glint feature appears largely unchanged from Battlefield 4.

Battlefield 1

In Battlefield 1, glint was originally present only on Sniper variants of Single-Action rifles only, but currently shows also on Marksman, Patrol and Silenced variants since the Weapons Crate Update in May 2018. Also added in the update was a rainbow glare that shows instead of a white glare when a player is within the enemy sniper's Sweet Spot range.

The Sniper Decoy produces visible scope glint to attract attention. The Trench Periscope produces a pair of closely spaced glints, but the user can peek over cover.

Scope glint can be seen through terrain, likely as an unresolved bug.

Battlefield V

In Battlefield V, the scope glint appears on Recon's Bolt-Action and Self-Loading rifles equipped with medium- or long-range scope. The Sniper Decoy (returning from the previous installment) produces a visible scope glint.

The Spotting Scope does not produce glint.
