Shun-Kin (Korean/Chosŏn'gŭl: 슌킨, code name Highbeam) is a character featured in Battlefield 4: Countdown to War. He was a North Korean defector and the man who gave the country nuclear capability.
Biography[]
Not much is known about Shun-Kin's past. Before he defected, he had programmed Korea's launch codes, giving North Korea nuclear capability.
Highbeam Coup[]
Shun-Kin defected from North Korea for unknown reasons. Since Shun-Kin had given Korea Nuclear capability, it was vital he be safely extracted. As a result, the CIA and China led the first ever joint US-Chinese operation. Cutler, the new station chief of the CIA in Shanghai saw it has an opportunity to leave his mark, sending agent Kovic to the lead the mission, known as the Highbeam Coup.
Shun-Kin had arrived in a vehicle near the Korean-Chinese border where he would meet Kovic and the others Marines to extract him. After the Marines arrived, Kovic approached Shun-Kin who was wearing a strange grin, telling him he was safe and they were there to extract him in Korean. When that didn't work he spoke in English to which Shun-Kin promptly exited the vehicle while still wearing his grin.
No sooner had he tried to make a run for it, only to be stopped and restrained by Kean. Shun-Kin then frantically yells for them to get away from him as he is strapped with explosives. Unable to react in time, Kean and Deacon are fatally wounded and Shun-Kin is vaporized.
Trivia[]
- Shun-Kin is a very unusual, if not, extremely rare Korean name.
- Since Shun-Kin had been alone without a detonator and tried to warn Kovic first with his strange grin and then directly, it meant that he had not been a suicide bomber and that someone from a distance who had been watching them detonated the explosives. No sooner then Shun-Kin's death do North Korean forces attack Kovic and the remaining Marines.
