The Special Activities Division is not a playable faction as the US and RU are the only playable factions in multiplayer; but after purchasing the SPECACT DLC, players may use specially camouflaged uniforms for each team as well as specially camouflaged weapons to give them an alternate appearance on the battlefield. This is merely a cosmetic upgrade as the camouflaged weapons change depending on the environment (arctic camo in arctic maps, woodland camo in woodland/jungle maps, and desert camo in desert maps). However, the DLC does add four new weapons with no further unlock requirements: the SA, the UMP-45 SA, the MG3 SA and the M95 SA. All of the weapons added perform identically to their non-SA counterparts, with the only difference being their camouflage - except in the case of the M95 where the process is reversed as the original M95 had camouflage and the SA variant is in a black finish instead.

Trivia
*The first-letter acronym of the Special Activities Division is SAD, which could be a reference to other games using acronyms for groups/agencies that aren't well known.

*Although BAD (Company) is not currently known to be an acronym for their role as canon fodder, when it switchs to SAD makes sense since their new role in the Special Activities Division is more grim.
