Russian Special Purpose Forces or Spetsnaz (Russian: Войска Специального Назначения; Спецназ) is an umbrella term for any special forces in Russian, literally "force of special purpose".
Battlefield 2: Special Forces
In Battlefield 2: Special Forces, the Russian Spetsnaz engage agaisnt the British SAS and the Russian Rebel Forces.
Background
The Russian Spetsnaz in-game are presumably counter-terrorism units, facing off the Rebels in southern Russia and in northern Kazahkistan. The Spetsnaz face off the British SAS after a Russian armored column was wiped out in a deserted town near the Caspian Sea.
The Spetsnaz's equipment and armaments are comprised of mostly Russian origin, with some armament consisting of European/Chinese origin. Obviously the Spetsnaz speak Russian.

Player kits
The Russian Spetsnaz wear mostly different camoflauge and helmets. Mostly there are two camoflauges they use, a green camoflauge (used on the Assault, Engineer, Anti-Tank and Suppport) and a blue camoflauge (used by the Medic, Special Forces and Sniper kit). They all wear Ski Mask and most of them wearing Helmets sometimes with a visor (with helmets with the exception of the Special forces and Sniper kit, wearing only ski mask). With the exception of the Engineer, all the Body Armor troops sport a green camoflauge.
