Spotlight IRL

A Police Helicopter Spotlight being used in real life

A Spotlight, also known as a Searchlight, is an apparatus that combines an extremely luminous source with a mirrored parabolic reflector to project a powerful beam of light of approximately parallel rays in a particular direction, usually constructed so that it can be swiveled about. Police commonly use them aboard helicopters and other air vehicles in order to search and locate possible suspects on the run from law enforcement.

"A spotlight useful for locating and blinding enemies."

— Battlelog Description

Spotlight is a vehicle Specialization that was to be featured in Battlefield Hardline for Helicopters. It was to be used by the co-pilot to locate enemies and subsequently blind them. While initially available in early versions of the game, it was ultimately cut from the final release.

Battlefield 1[]

The Spotting Searchlight is a vehicle specialization for the Saint-Chamond Standoff Assault Package. When activated a bright light will flash, spotting all enemy players visible to the driver's first person view. Another effect of the flash is that it will blind all players who look directly at the tank, similar to Flashbangs. The downside of the searchlight is that it is extremely noticeable in dark environments, making it hard to conceal the tanks location.
