The TAPCO Intrafuse Stubby Vertical Grip in real life.

A Stubby Grip is a shorter version of a full size Vertical Grip. Such grips are primarily intended to keep a shooter's hand from moving forward of the muzzle, as well as allowing more space for other attachments on a weapon.

Battlefield 4

"Shortened foregrip provides a good middle ground between ergonomics and weapon control. Improves Accuracy by reducing the automatic fire penalty by 15%."

— In-game description

The Stubby Grip is an accessory for primary weapons in Battlefield 4. It reduces spread during automatic fire, the same as the potato grip.

Contrary to popular belief, the Stubby grip does not decrease the base spread of a weapon, but rather the rate at which the spread increases between shots. Additionally, while not described by Battlelog, the grip also reduces the maximum spread a weapon can achieve during sustained fire by 33%. The stubby grip is particularly advantageous on weapons where firing in long bursts is a viable option, as it will effectively result in a tighter grouping.

The Stubby Grip compliments the Muzzle Brake and Compensator well, as it halves their 30% spread increase penalty and completely nullifies the 30% increase in max spread while aiming. This allows the player to retain more of a weapon's accuracy with these attachments than they normally would, and making longer bursts more viable with ranged engagements. The Stubby Grip when combined with the heavy barrel is the most accurate setup for the majority of weapons in the game (exceptions include the AEK and FAMAS).

"The reduced length of this foregrip makes for a lightweight and strong point of control. Improves accuracy by reducing the rapid fire penalty and slightly increases maneuverability."

— In-game description

The Stubby Grip is a weapon attachment featured in Battlefield Hardline.

Much like its Battlefield 4 counterpart, it reduces the spread increase from each shot, making it most useful for firing long bursts.

It can be used alongside the Muzzle Brake or Compensator for a benefit in both stability and accuracy, or used with the Heavy Barrel to achieve the highest accuracy in rapid fire.

Like other grips, the Stubby Grip has two models, depending on which weapon it is used on. The MP5K has a Stubby Grip built-in.

Trivia

  • In Battlefield Hardline, the Stubby Grip is modeled after the BCM Vertical Grip and Tangodown Vertical Grip.
