The Suomi KP/-31 (Suomi-konepistooli or "Finland-submachine gun"), also known as the Suomi m/31, was a Finnish straight blowback operated submachine gun designed by Aimo Lahti in 1931. It was adopted by the Finnish Defence Forces after entering production in 1932, and saw service during the Winter War, Continuation War and Lapland War between the years 1939 and 1945.

Battlefield V[]

"The KP/-31 was possibly the best submachine gun of World War II. It had great accuracy and a high rate of fire. The Russians copied the design, but their version never reached the same high standard."

— In-game description

The Suomi KP/-31 is a submachine gun featured in Battlefield V. It was first revealed on the official screenshot published alongside the Battlefield 5 Official Gamescom Trailer Teaser.

Singleplayer[]

The weapon can be found in weapon crates throughout the singleplayer War Stories. A unique suppressed variant is available in the first act of Nordlys, near the power station within the perimeter of the heavy water plant.

Multiplayer[]

The Suomi is the first unlock for the Medic at class rank 1. It has one of the highest fire rates among submachine guns, outperforming the similar M1928A1, of which it shares an identical upgrade tree, for greatest damage output and thus the quickest time-to-kill in its category. However, the ability to make hits when firing in fully automatic is limited by severe recoil. In addition to its highest in class per-shot recoil the Suomi KP/-31 possesses similarly unprecedented horizontal recoil that can make recoil pattern difficult to anticipate and adjust correspondingly. Furthermore, default magazine size is a paltry 20 rounds which can be depleted in just over a second of uninterrupted fire. While undoubtedly effective when in close-quarters engagements against a single target, the Suomi may struggle to maintain its dominance past this distance, especially when faced by multiple opponents.

The weapon's drawbacks can be corrected somewhat through specialisations, with both paths improving controllability and responsiveness in various ways. Of note is the rank 3 choice between Light Bolt which boosts fire rate to 981 RPM, and Extended Magazine granting 50 rounds per magazine but also lengthening time to complete each reload.
