Support/Battlefield 2
Support forces, unlike Assault and Engineer, have a defensive role rather than the attacking role. Support's lack of mobility and accuracy is compensated with extreme firepower, using belt-fed Light Machine Guns, useful for suppressing fire, making the enemy think twice before subjecting himself to death while friendly forces move forward or when a friendly base is under attack and a handgun, useful for close quarters combat or when the LMG is empty. Besides of the defending role, Support is also tasked to keep friendlies' guns loaded, with throwable ammo boxes that automatically regenerate ammunition to any players nearby.

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Unlike many of the classes in Modern Combat, the Support kit's role is slightly altered from its Battlefield 2 counterpart, now being a mix of the Medic and the former Support class. The class retains its light machine guns from the previous title, but with the removal of Ammo Bags from the game, the class is now the Medic of the team as opposed to the resupplier, being equipped with the Auto Injecter to heal himself and teammates. The class also has access to the Mortar Strike, allowing him to call in a mortar barrage on a specific target.
*Ammo box (infinite use)

*Frag Grenades (when unlocked by all kits)

These additions allow the Support to lend himself well to his name: He can keep his allies in fighting condition by quickly healing them with the Auto Injector, aid in eliminating hostile vehicles or clustered enemies with a Mortar Strike, and his high damaging LMGs can easily pick off straggling enemies at range. Due to their inaccuracy and low rates of fire, the LMGs preform poorly up close, and the Support should avoid close quarters fighting when able, instead deferring these engagements to Special Ops or Assaults and assisting from afar.

Although primarily responsible for keeping teammates stocked via the Ammo Hub, Support also provides essential defensive measures. The A12 Enforcer Sentry Gun and IPS Shield give extra protection in confined areas. The V5 EMP Grenade can temporarily disable vehicles and suppress infantry. The Clark 12-RDX gives Support indirect firepower, and a means of clearing explosives.
Tactics
Battlefield 2
Basics
As a Support soldier, your main role is to replenish the ammo of friendlies, as well as providing heavy cover/suppressing fire for them in the case a large group of enemies charge at them. You will last quite long in firefights as you have Heavy body armor, but this, plus your equipment, will reduce your sprinting time. The Support kit became the Medic in Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Combat Against Infantry
Support users will have a great advantage over many in firefights as they have a highly powerful Light Machine Gun, which can keep enemies pinned down, as well as inflicting heavy damage against them. You will have to fire many rounds at your enemies since the LMGs in the game are not very accurate, as well as the fact that the LMG bullets are not very powerful. An LMG's high Firing Rate, as well as it's high magazine capacity, will help you inflict heavy damage on enemy squads, as well as keeping them pinned behind cover. Also, be aware of the LMG's main downside; It's reload time. It takes much longer to reload the LMG than any other weapon in the game. If you have run out of ammo during a firefight, retreat and head for cover to reload, or draw out the Handgun or Knife.

  +
Support also provides detection for teammates (normally the role of Scout and Recon in other titles). The Pulse Meter and IDS-1 reveal nearby enemies. V5 EMP Grenade, along with Helmet, can reveal cloaked intruders.
You should rarely ever use the pistol unless you have to, because the LMG does not have any downside the pistol can possibly exceed (excluding reload speed). The most recommended time to use the pistol is when you LMG runs out of ammo in a short-range firefight and you do not have time to find cover and reload.

  +

The Combat Knife is slightly more useful than the handgun, since it has the capability to instantly kill enemy infantry in a single knife thrust, abet the very short effective range it has. The most recommended time to draw out and use the Knife is when your LMG runs out of ammo during a Point-Blank firefight, or to humiliate enemies by charging at them.

  +
Battlefield: Bad Company
Hand Grenades are very lethal to infantry and light vehicles, and as a Support soldier, you can maximize the lethality of these Grenades to their limit. How to do this is simply re-supply yourself when you have used up all 4 of your grenades. Then keep throwing them until you feel like you should stop. Because of this, it makes the Support kit great for Grenade Mortaring/Spamming.

Combat Against Vehicles
  +
|name = Support
The only vehicles you should engage are light and medium vehicles since they do not have adequate armor to fully resist small arms fire. Light Vehicles such as the DPV will be easy to destroy as their armor will not be able to withstand a significant amount of small arms fire and/or lots of hand grenades for a short time. Since you have an Infinite amount of Bullets and Grenades to use, you will pose a major threat to them. Medium Vehicles such as the Vodnik will be much harder as their armor is much more resistant to Grenades and small arms fire. Both these vehicles will be hard to destroy as Light Vehicles are faster (therefore, a harder target to hit) and Medium Vehicles have more resistant armor.

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield: Bad Company. While it still specializes in suppressive fire, it has been combined with the Medic and Engineer kits, and is the primary healer and vehicle engineer on the battlefield, with ammo being supplied by Ammunition crates present at bases.

  +

You should never engage armored vehicles such as APCs as the Support kit's armament is not suitable for Anti-Armor purposes. The vehicle's weapons will make short work of you. The best damage you could do alone is by throwing numerous Hand Grenades at it. The best thing you could do is resupply an Anti Tank soldier while he/she combats the armored vehicle.

Battlefield: Bad Company
In Battlefield: Bad Company, the main goal in the game is to focus on healing teammates, as downed teammates cannot be revived. If the player is considered isolated, then the player using the kit should focus on designating targets for Mortar Strikes (if the MRTR-5 has been unlocked) or providing suppressing fire on enemy infantry within the player's sight.

Combat Against Infantry
The Support class is ideal for infantry-based combat, as its primary weapon is a Machine Gun. Players firing the machine gun should fire in controlled bursts (be sure to aim down the sights for maximum effectiveness) when engaging targets at medium to long range and only spray when the target is nearing 'point blank' range. When unlocking new primary weapons for the kit, it is considered best to unlock the MG36 first, as it is ideal for long range combat. Its relatively high accuracy and rate of fire, along with its built-in optic, makes it especially effective against infantry at long range, but loses effectiveness when the target is considerably close to the shooter, as the MG36's damage output might not be able to down the target before the opposing player kills the shooter. For close quarters, players should use the faction default weapons (M249, PKM, QJY-88) or the unlockable M60.

The Support kit is featured in many installments in the Battlefield Series. Its main role is to resupply friendly teammates and provide heavy suppressive fire against enemy targets.

Battlefield 2[]

Main article: Support/Battlefield 2

"Heavy gunner equipped to suppress enemy and resupply team-mates."

— In game description.

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield 2. The kit's primary purpose is to resupply teammates with ammunition via his Ammo Bags on the battlefield as well as lay down suppressive fire on hostiles using the kit's light-machine guns. The Support, along with the Assault and Anti-Tank, has body armor equipped, meaning damage multipliers to the torso are decreased against the player, allowing player to survive a few more hits to the torso than those without armor. However, the armor reduces the Support's stamina, making sprinting significant distances and general mobility somewhat of a problem.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat[]

"The support soldier doubles as combat troop and medic. He carries a machine gun, fragmentation grenades, a pistol, and a medical auto injector, and can call in mortar strikes."

— Instruction Manual Description

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Unlike many of the classes in Modern Combat, the Support kit's role is slightly altered from its Battlefield 2 counterpart, now being a mix of the Medic and the former Support class. The class retains its light machine guns from the previous title, but with the removal of Ammo Bags from the game, the class is now the Medic of the team as opposed to the resupplier, being equipped with the Auto Injecter to heal himself and teammates. The class also has access to the Mortar Strike, allowing him to call in a mortar barrage on a specific target.

Battlefield 2142[]

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield 2142. It functions similar to its Battlefield 2 counterpart, featuring LMGs, shotguns, and a pistol that varies by faction.

Beginning with Battlefield 2142, LMGs gain accuracy the longer they are fired, though continuous fire is prevented by overheating. LMGs retain their accuracy bonus when using lower stances, favoring a prepared defender over more aggressive tactics. As an alternative, the Clark 15B is an ideal close-quarters weapon.

Support also provides detection for teammates (normally the role of Scout and Recon in other titles). The DysTek Pulse Meter and IDS-1 reveal nearby enemies. V5 EMP Grenade, along with NetBat Helmet, can reveal cloaked intruders.

Battlefield: Bad Company[]

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield: Bad Company. While it still specializes in suppressive fire, it has been combined with the Medic and Engineer kits, and is the primary healer and vehicle engineer on the battlefield, with ammo being supplied by Ammunition crates present at bases.

Battlefield 3[]

Main article: Support/Battlefield 3

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield 3. The kit is more akin to the Battlefield 2 kit, as it is equipped with Ammo Box, used to replenish ammunition for teammates. With the introduction of the Suppression system, the Support class takes on an additional role of being a key presence by effectively shaping the battlefield by diverting and dispatching opposing forces.

Battlefield 4[]

Main article: Support/Battlefield 4

The Support kit is featured in Battlefield 4, functioning similarly to its Battlefield 3 counterpart.

The Support class can now be used as a more versatile role, as it has access to its characteristic Light Machine Guns, along with Shotguns, Carbines, and Designated Marksman Rifles, allowing it to fill a number of different roles such as close quarters assault and sniping.

Battlefield 1[]

Main article: Support/Battlefield 1

This item has a Codex entry: Suppressing Fire

The Support class makes an appearance in Battlefield 1.

Much like in previous titles, Support has access to light-machine guns and has a primary role of suppressing enemies and supporting teammates.

The Support class has access to Ammo Pouch and Ammo Crate, with ammo pouches resupplying a fixed amount for individual soldiers on the move, and the ammo crate which replenishes more ammo over time and can supply whole groups at a time.

Battlefield V[]

Main article: Support/Battlefield V

The Support is one of four base classes featured in Battlefield V. Its two Combat Roles are "Engineer" and "Machine Gunner".

The kit can be equipped with either Light or Medium Machine Guns, as well as Shotguns, giving it increased versatility. Players can still choose to assist their squad from afar with suppressing fire, or close the distance and act as pointman with a shotgun.

Battlefield 2042[]

Main article: Support/Battlefield 2042

The Support class is featured in Battlefield 2042. In the main game, Angel and Falck are classified as Support Specialists.

In the Battlefield Portal, the BF3 Support is an available class within the Battlefield 3 Collection. The class features updated models of their BF3 US and RU counterparts and function in a similar manner.
