The "Guided Shell" is likely based on the currently-in-development XM1111 Mid-Range Munition. The XM1111 is a 120mm precision-guided projectile for use in the Abrams' Rheinmetall M256 smoothbore cannon. (The same weapon is used on the German Leopard 2.) It uses a semi-active laser designation system combined with infrared imaging.
