I suggest to delete the Flanker-D from its name, it's just a name that nato gave to the vehicle, not the official name 84.109.175.4 15:31, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

Well we have the NATO reporting name for all of the Soviet/Russian aircraft (ie Mi-8 Hip, Mi-24 Hind, etc) ЙураYuriKaslov - Sig image
Well, most of the Russian vehicles in the series add the NATO designation at the end of their names, like Mi-24 Hind and Mi-28 Havoc. Just following suit with the other articles. If BF3 makes no reference to "Flanker-D", then I'm all for it, but we'll have to wait and see. Haha, Yuri beat me to it, but you see the point. SSDGFCTCT9(Talk) AdminRibbon UserMonthRibbon AwardRibbon 800px-Template Ribbon 15:36, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

I think this page should be deleted. It has been established that the mysterious Flanker was in fact, the Su-35BM. That means that this page which was previously speculation is now irrelevant to the BF series. Delta1138 SnooPING AS usual I see 20:42, November 4, 2011 (UTC)

Su-33, Su-35, or Su-37?

I don't think the Flanker shown in the trailer was a Su-33 Flanker-D... it looks closer to a Su-35 Super Flanker or an Su-37. Look at my comparison below. All the aircraft obviously have similar characteristics but one noticeable difference is the "stinger" at the rear of each aircraft. The Su-33's "stinger" is smaller than the Flanker shown in the trailer, while the Su-35's and Su-37's are almost an exact match. Now since it isn't a Su-33, it must either be a Su-35 or a Su-37... but the Su-37s development ceased in 2002. Sooooooo... the only awnser is the Su-35 Super Flanker, an earlier variant of the Su-35BM which is already featured in the game. :P

Ever thought of DICE probaly made a hick-up and made the stinger a tad bit to long? And I have a freeze frame device on me and THAT damn thing sports a blue and teal camoflauge and you have to remember that this was an early build and unless someone could walk up to DICE and ask them if they did use the Su-33 in an early build, anywho I think they'll include it in some form sooner or later (DICE gives us files pl0x).--Gryphus.SQDSlopijoeAurelia's finestFalco.SQD 03:26, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

A hick-up isn't a very good excuse. The aircraft show must have been a Su-35, but later in development DICE opted for the new modernized variant, the Su-35BM, and simply removed the canards. And it explains why it doesn't have any thrust-vectoring engines installed as well. I also studied the camo patterns on both aircraft and so far the Su-35 is the clear winner. Besides many Flanker variants sport similar camoflauges, so it can be easily mistaken. And I highly doubt that DICE will use it in the future, that is unless it is going to counter the F-15 in End Game.Warwolf 1 talk 04:19, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

YOUR NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS JOHN LOUISE ITS ACTUALLY A Su-37.

Since DICE's choice for the USMC plane was the F/A-18, wouldn't the logical opposing fighter be the Su-33, the Russian Carrier-based aircraft? F-22 Desert Raptor156th Tactical Fighter SquadronDEathgod65 - OMDF (Contact) VMFA-55F-35A RSAF

Ahhhh... a Terminator it is then. LOL! Ace Combat 4 reference. And yes, the Su-33 would've been a good choice in countering the F/A-18E. But since the Russian Navy doesn't makes an appearence it wouldn't make much sence have it around.Warwolf 1 talk 21:52, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

DICE's choice doesn't make sense anyways given that they gave the Marines Super Hornets instead of regular Hornets and M1A2s instead of M1A1s. Then again they couldn't even get the cockpit and designation of the Su-35 right. OmegaShinkai (talk) 04:51, October 21, 2012 (UTC)
