The Tirpitz was the second of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. Named after the architect of the German Imperial Navy Alfred von Tirpitz, the ship was laid down in 1936 with work being completed in February 1941. At 42,900 tonnes, the Tirpitz was the largest battleship ever constructed by a European power.
For the majority of its time in service, the Tirpitz was stationed in Norway and tasked with intercepting Allied supply convoys to the Soviet Union. The threat of the battleship as a "fleet in being" forced the Royal Navy to retain powerful naval forces in the North Sea as a means of containing it. The battleship was sunk on November 12th 1944 by RAF Lancaster bombers.
Battlefield V[]
The Tirpitz features as an unusable vehicle in Battlefield V. It is found only on the map Lofoten Islands, added in Tides of War Chapter Four - Defying The Odds. It appears out-of-bounds to the south of the island area used for Team Deathmatch.
