Trauma Studios, also known as Digital Illusions CE New York was a video game developer located in New York that was founded by a group of friends in 2003 as a way to create a game that they could enjoy with one another. They are best known for having created the popular Desert Combat modification for Battlefield 1942.

This led Digital Illusions CE to acquire the studio in September 2004 and rename it DICE New York. The studio was then tasked to help in the development of Battlefield 2, with Desert Combat being a framework for the game. After the release of Battlefield 2, DICE formally announced the shut down of the New York studio on June 7, 2005. Employees of the studio declined to be relocated to the DICE Sweden offices. In 2006, the former employees formed Kaos Studios as a new internal studio for THQ.

Kaos Studios went on the develop Frontlines: Fuel of War and Homefront before being shut down on June 13, 2011. Members of the Homefront development team were then moved to THQ Montreal which shutdown after the THQ 2012 bankruptcy and was acquired by Ubisoft.[1]
