Like in Battlefield 4, two variants of the UMP appear in Battlefield Hardline: the UMP-45 and the UMP-9 introduced with Getaway. Similar to their counterparts, the primary differences between the two are damage, recoil, and magazine capacity, as they both handle similarly and are exclusive to the Mechanic kit. The UMP-45 also appears in singleplayer, while the UMP-9 is multiplayer exclusive.

The UMP-45 is a submachine gun featured in Battlefield Hardline. It is available for the Criminal Mechanic kit and comes equipped with a Holo [1x]. The UMP-45 does more damage than the other weapons available to Mechanic, but has a smaller magazine capacity, a slower fire rate, and more recoil than most of the other sub-machine guns.

The UMP-45 can be used for the Law Enforcement Mechanic kit through the use of a Weapon License.

• The UMP-45 and UMP-9 use the same menu icon.
• During the Open Beta, the UMP-45 was originally a Law Enforcement weapon, but was switched to the Criminals following the Beta, with Law Enforcement instead getting the M/45. This was likely due to the Criminals not having access to any high-damage sub-machineguns, while Law Enforcement had no low recoil and low spread weapons for longer ranges, so the switch helped balance out the gap between the two faction's weapons.
