The US Special Forces is a playable US faction in Battlefield Vietnam. Representing the United States Special Forces units in Vietnam, they take cues from the US Army Green Berets.
Units[]
- The 5th Special Forces Group is a United States Army Special Forces unit that was activated on September 21, 1961 during the Cold War. During the Vietnam Conflict, the group mostly operated behind enemy lines with either other Special Forces groups or South Vietnamese special forces. They were specialized in combating both regular and irregular units of the Vietnam People's Army, and other communist bloc insurgents. They used unconventional and conventional warfare, and were some of the last soldiers the United States pulled out of Vietnam.
- The Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) was a special operations unit which conducted covert unconventional warfare operations during the Vietnam Conflict. The unit conducted strategic reconnaissance missions in Republic of Vietnam, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

Player kits[]
The US Special Forces, in contrast to their U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and ARVN counterparts, are rather unique: The Assault kits are given CAR-15 with one variant being able to utilize an underbarrel grenade launcher, their Engineer kits are given C4 like ARVN, and their Scouts are issued an M40 like the USMC. They all use the M-19 revolver compared to the standard M1911 available to others and all kits except the Engineer kit is issued Medpack, allowing Special Forces soldiers to heal themselves or other friendly soldiers.
