The VBIED (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device), also known as car bomb or suicide car is an explosive device intended to set off inside an automobile or other vehicle (such as motorcycle or APC). It is commonly used by various resistance and terrorist groups as a tool of asymmetric warfare.
Car bombs can be either used for assassinations (to kill vehicle's occupants) or as a "cruising bomb", to destroy the surrounding objects and harm nearby people. Some VBIEDs require the driver-terrorist to sit inside the vehicle during the explosion (in US military nomenclature they are called suicide VBIEDs - SVBIEDs), while the others can be detonated remotely, without harming the terrorist.
VBIEDs appear in Battlefield 3's campaign, used by People's Liberation and Resistance insurgents. The vehicle is based on white 1985 Toyota Corona sedan.

Singleplayer[]
Several VBIEDs appear during the last section of Thunder Run. People's Liberation and Resistance forces send a few car bombs to ambush the American M1 Abrams convoy. Despite the destruction of one tank, Americans manage to stop most VBIEDs before they reach their targets.
Multiplayer[]
White civilian Toyota Corona sedan appears in many multiplayer maps as a static prop. They appear only on maps which are located in Iran or other Middle Eastern countries, as on French maps (Seine Crossing and Operation Métro) they are replaced by dark blue civilian Ford Mondeo sedans.
