The Ka-58 "Black Ghost" is a Russian stealth helicopter design, apparently inspired by the Boeing–Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche.

It appeared as a model kit produced by Zvezda since at least 2014, and a later kit by Revell in 2019. The Ka-58 borrows the double rotor configuration of the Ka-520 Super Hokum, and incorporates stealth features such as faceted geometry and surface treatments to minimize radar reflection, improved rotor blades that reduce noise, along with an array of future weapon systems. The vehicle appearing in Battlefield 2042 as the YG-99 Hannibal also features weapon bays and engine ports that can be sealed, streamlined cowlings for the rotor, and a cockpit treatment.

Battlefield 2042[]

"The top-secret YG-99 Hannibal is the most advanced attack helicopter in the world. If you set eyes on a Hannibal, it is already too late."

— In-game description

The YG-99 Hannibal is a vehicle featured in Battlefield 2042, added in Zero Hour season. Players can unlock the vehicle by reaching tier 10 in Battle Pass. Afterwards, players can unlock both types of helicopters simultaneously after completing certain assignments. It is the Russian equivalent of RAH-68 Huron.

It seats two players in a contemporary pilot/gunner manner. By pressing Flight mode, the pilot can switch between Attack and Stealth configurations. Attack mode allows the pilot to engage targets ahead of the vehicle, while Stealth mode forces the pilot to make closer approaches for best use of its HE bombs.

The YG-99 is more lightly armored than the Ka-520, and generally will not survive any hit from an anti-tank weapon.

Attack mode[]

In Attack mode, the pilot is provided with heavy machine gun pods, which can be upgraded to 30mm Cannon Pods. The pilot also has access to AA-11 IR Missiles or a wire-guided missile. Missile countermeasures can be unlocked.

The open weapon bays and exhaust ports allow guided weaponry to lock onto the vehicle.

Stealth mode[]

Within a few seconds, the helicopter will retract its fuselage, Converting it into to Stealth mode. The pilot is prevented from using external weapon systems but is provided with the ability to drop a salvo of high explosive bombs. When viewing through the chase camera, the player is also provided an HUD reticle for the bombs' expected drop point at ground level. Potential targets may be able to hear the bombs falling well in advance of their impact.[1]

While in stealth mode, the vehicle cannot be targeted by any system requiring weapon lock, with an HUD message indicating that the vehicle is not a valid target. The vehicle will also disable its own Air Radar. Both the pilot and gunner will see a window effect on their cockpit or chase camera views.

Any part damage, hacking, or EMP effects suffered while in Stealth mode will immediately return the helicopter to Attack mode, potentially exposing it to lock-on weaponry.[2] The Stealth mode switch will also be disabled for a short time, or until the part damage itself is repaired. Many unguided vehicle weapon systems are capable of inflicting part damage, along with the NTW-50.

Despite completely blocking out lock ons. It will not nullify any rockets that have gotten a full lock and are targeting the helicopter.

The gunner is provided with a suppressed heavy machine gun, and an EMP Field Grenade launcher that can disrupt enemy electronics and nullify opposing vehicles. Both weapons are available in either flight mode.
