M132 Zippo IRL

The M132 Zippo in real life.

The M132 Armored Flamethrower (nickname, "Zippo") was a United States built flamethrower armed variant of the M113 and M113A1 armored personnel carriers developed in the early 1960s. Approximately 350 were accepted into service.

— 1.2 patch installation ReadMe

The Zippo is a cut vehicle that was supposed to appear in Battlefield Vietnam.

The Zippo is a M113 with a small flamethrowing turret in place of the machine gun. The driver's hatch is covered, so the driver drives from inside the vehicle. Unlike the M113, it can carry only a driver, but still supplies ammunition to friendly forces when used by the USA.

Trivia[]

  • The Zippo is only referenced in the ReadMe file that immediately opens when patch 1.2 is first installed, but is not mentioned in the notes included with the patch.
  • The Zippo was originally found on Operation Cedar Falls, at the US armor base in place of the M113, but was replaced before the game's release for unknown reasons. This is evident because the M113 replacing the Zippo on this map spawns under the template ZippoSpawner.
